Description
Limited Income - Newly Eligible Transition (LI-NET) is a special Medicare prescription drug program that provides temporary Part D prescription drug coverage for low income Medicare beneficiaries not already in a Medicare drug plan including:
Point-of-sale prescription drug coverage ensures that individuals with Medicare's low-income subsidy, or Extra Help, who are not yet enrolled in a Part D prescription drug plan are still able to get immediate prescription drug coverage.
Retroactive coverage provides retroactive coverage for new dual eligible - those individuals who are eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid or Medicare and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) from the Social Security Administration (SSA).

Application Instructions
Some people are automatically enrolled. Others are enrolled when they fill a prescription at a pharmacy after Medicare starts.

To get paid back for drugs during the month before LI-NET enrollment (or extra months if your SSI/MA letter says you are eligible), send receipts following the instructions on the yellow notice from Medicare, or call: (800) 783-1307 for instructions.
